Francis Uzoho penalised in Cyprus

Super Eagles goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has now been penalised by the Cyprus FA with a 1-match ban and a fine of €1000.

He can now probably heave a sigh of relief as the case had threatened to hamper his pursuit for game time at Anorthosis.

Uzoho joined Anorthosis Famagusta on loan from Deportivo on deadline day, and barely 24hrs after, made his debut in a game against Apollon Limassol.

Apollon then filed a protest, insisting Uzoho was ineligible for the match as his health certificate was invalid.

Uzoho admitted to the Police that he was on plane to Cyprus when the medical certificate was prepared – meaning he didn’t undergo medical tests before the issuance.

He was consequently forced to watch Anorthosis’ next 2 games from the stands as the FA insisted so.

Now, after ruling on Apollon’s complaint, the FA has penalised Uzoho and deducted 9 points from Anorthosis.

Once the Super Eagles star serves his one-match suspension and pays his €1K fine, he will be qualified to get back into action in the Cypriot league.
